AI-Powered NCD Screening
for Africa

NCD MedTech builds Sanitel: an intelligent platform that gives health systems the power to detect non-communicable diseases early, before they become fatal.

NCDs are Africa's silent epidemic

Non-Communicable Diseases: diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and more kill more people than any other cause. Yet most go undetected until it's too late.

Rwanda Specifically

Hypertension affects 1 in 6 Rwandan adults. Diabetes affects 1 in 20. Most cases are undiagnosed until complications arise.

Rwanda's 58,000-strong community health worker network is structurally positioned for early screening but lacks the digital tools and AI-driven intelligence to transform this network into a systematic NCD early detection engine.

Meet Sanitel

An AI-powered, end-to-end digital health platform that enables early detection, continuous management, and population-level surveillance of NCDs built for Africa.

AI-Powered Screening

AI models analyse patient biomarkers, symptoms, and demographics to generate real-time NCD risk scores. Explainable AI provides clinicians with transparent, auditable reasoning every prediction shows its contributing factors.

Rwanda's 58,000-strong community health worker network is primed for AI-assisted screening. Sanitel connects the last mile to the Ministry of Health in real time.

How Sanitel Works

From community to ministry in four steps

Sanitel connects every level of the health system from the community health worker's phone to the Ministry of Health's national dashboard.

01

CHW Screens Patient

Community health workers use the Sanitel mobile app offline-capable to register patients and collect biomarkers, symptoms, and demographics.

02

AI Scores Risk

Sanitel's ML models instantly generate NCD risk scores for up to 5 diseases, with explainable factor analysis that shows exactly why the score was assigned.

03

Clinician Reviews

Doctors and nurses receive AI-flagged high-risk patients. They review AI reasoning, conduct clinical assessment, and issue treatment or referral.

04

Dashboard Insight

Every screening feeds real-time dashboards at facility, district, and national level enabling MoH to track NCD prevalence and target resources.

What Makes Us Different

Built to work where it matters most

Built for Africa

Designed for low-resource settings: offline capability, low-bandwidth optimisation, multilingual (English, French, Kinyarwanda), and community health worker–centric workflows.

Clinical AI with Human Oversight

Every AI prediction includes explainable factor analysis. Clinicians always retain final decision-making authority. No autonomous diagnoses ever.

Already Functional

A working platform with integrated clinical modules, NCD screening capabilities, real-time communication, and role-based access built and validated by our founding team.

Ethically Governed

Comprehensive AI ethics policy, bias testing across demographics, DPIA, and algorithmic transparency designed for Rwanda's Data Protection Act (Law Nº 058/2021) and WHO AI guidelines from day one.
